As one enters the Dining Room from the Hall, the first thing that catches the eye is the resplendent Murano chandelier with the beautiful “English Oak” Table below. In stark contrast to the Hall, the colour scheme of the room is a serene blue and silver with the yellowed vintage wallpaper and delicate patterns in the carpet adding hints of gold. A pair of antique vases from Multan flank the Burma teak panelled entrance to a dining alcove with an intricately carved round table, blown glass chandelier and embroidered curtains from the Doge’s Palace in Venice. Antique silver namely, candelabras’, the centre piece, tea and coffee services, salvers, are placed at vantage points in the room and define it’s character. Historic paintings of the ‘Simla of yore’, adorn the walls. A unique spoon collection displayed in a cabinet is worthy of interest as is the other display of French Limoges and Japanese porcelain, Baccarat and Royal Doulton glass ware.
